As chairman and on behalf of the committee I would like to welcome you to what we believe will be a great season as the club are poised to take significant and positive steps both on and off the field

We hope to build on the enthusiasm generated at the AGM and it is my belief that you have elected a very capable committee that will take the necessary actions to make OWCC a club that we are all proud to be part of

We would like ensure that we practise the following values that we have traditionally been famed for:

To play our cricket competitively and within the “spirit of the game”.

To treat our fellow members and team mates, the opposition and our guests with respect. Win, lose or draw playing an Old Woking side should be an enjoyable experience for all

To communicate to the membership the actions and progress we are making as a committee in an apt and timely manner

To offer the membership, their friends and family a programme of social events that Social Secretary Dev Grobbelaar will be communicating pre season

I would also like to make you aware that the committee are focusing on the following urgent issues pre-season:

To make sure that our ground and pitches are returned to their former glories and as such we will be recruiting external support to treat the squares. We will be beginning the ground work (2 days) at the end of March, beginning of April and Matt Prisco will be communicating the dates and asking for volunteers to be part of the working parties.... please help if you can

The club has the opportunity to be awarded the “Focus Club” status for the Woking area, bringing with it potential funding and the kudos of being the face of “colts cricket” in Woking. We have worked hard to reach this point and a subcommittee has been elected to steer this project through the administration process

I would also like to advise you that the subscriptions and match fees for season 2010 will be as follows:

Adult subscription: £75.00

Adult match fee: £10.00 first game, £5.00 second game

Student/Junior subscription: £40.00

Student/Junior match fee: £6.00 first game, £4.00 second game

Colt subscription: £40.00, 2nd colt in family £25.00, Under 11 £25.00

No colt match fee unless playing for an adult team £4.00 per match

We are investing a considerable amount of our savings in preparing the ground preseason and if you can send your subscriptions into Vic Shipp as soon as possible it will help

Let’s make season 2010 a year to remember for the right reasons. We would like to be a club playing and working together in harmony.... a club that we all will be proud of.
